Fern’s Garden

June 24th, 2011

Fern’s Garden is a great gift site. They started their business with Fern selling her brother’s hand made chimes.

I love to hear great quality chimes. I have given Jacob’s chimes for years as gifts, as well as own many. I love the car chimes  ($8.95) that hang on your rear view mirror and make a very subtle chime sound.

And I love the refrigerator magnet chime ($9.95) that also has a very subtle chime.

Both come in an assortment of designs.

They also carry Zen bracelets. I never leave the house without a bracelet or two to protect me in the world!

And I love this dragonfly nightlight for $11

I hope you save this site as a go-to gift site. They really have a large assortment of things to choose from. And you know my motto, never leave a site without a little somethin’ somethin’ for yourself.

Glam Alert: It’s a Ten – for Hair Care

June 23rd, 2011

Several years ago my hairdresser gave me a bottle of It’s A Ten Leave In Conditioner. For years I had always used Infusium 23, and thought it was working just fine. However, I noticed a huge improvement in the shine and bounciness of my hair after using It’s A 10.  It really does seem to leave it very soft and adds shine.

It’s A 10 does 10 things instantly: 1. Repairs dry damaged hair. 2. Adds shine. 3. Smoothes and controls frizz. 4. Seals and protects hair color. 5. Flat iron spray and thermal protector.  6. Detangles. 7. Stops hair breakage. 8. Creates silkiness. 9. Enhances natural body. 10. Prevents split ends.  That’s where the name comes from. Pretty clever, huh? Even though it comes in a spray bottle, it is not liquid.  It sprays out more like a cream, or light conditioner.  I would recommend spraying the product into your hand and then using on hair.  You don’t seem to use as much with that method.  I’ve never had any problem with the sprayer getting clogged.

In researching the product, I found that It’s A 10 also carries It’s A Ten Leave in Conditioner with Keratin.  It claims to do the following 10 things:  1. Maintenance of keratin straightening treatments. 2. Increase styling & manageability. 3. Perfect for all hair types. 4. Replaces lost protein. 5. Protects the natural keratin in hair. 6. Protects against heat. 7. Restores hydration balance. 8. Detangles, defrizzes & adds shine. 9. Strengthens hair structure. 10. Seals cuticles for extra silky hair.

Even knowing there is a difference I still would stick with the original, because it works great for me and it seems to claim to help  more with damaged hair.  I have color treated hair, and use a blow dryer and curling iron regularly, so I am looking for a product that helps with protecting the hair color and preventing split ends.  The second one doesn’t claim to do that.

Do you use a leave in conditioner? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section.

Fourth of July Decorations

June 22nd, 2011

Remember before when I told you about Celebrate Express? A great website to get party decorations for birthdays, etc.  Well, I’m getting ready for the July 4th holiday, so thought I would revisit one of my old sites for you to check out in case you were having a get together for the 4th. They have everything you need, including table decorations, plates, napkins, and drinkware.

They have a large plastic serving tray for only $5.99

You can even get your own personalized banner for $15.99

Another great site for party decorations is Oriental Trading.  In addition to all of the items carried by Celebrate Express, I saw these really cute baseball caps for $22 a dozen

And this adorable inflatable buffet for $8

So hurry and order your party supplies! You are sure to be a big hit!

Vacu Vin Instant Marinating Container

June 21st, 2011

The Fourth of July is just less than two weeks away.  Time to get ready for grilling season. We actually grill all year round.  I encourage grilling at my house.  Can you guess why?  Yes, the manly man does the grilling, while the little misses just stays in the house.  Nice and cool.  Drinking a mint julep.

We have had the Vacu Vin Instant Marinating Container for many years.  I want to say at least ten years, but that may be a slight exaggeration.  I’m old.  I lose track of time.  It looks and works just like it did when it was brand new.  The name tells you everything. You put your meat in the container, vacuum seal it with the little handy tool that pumps all the air out, and you can get a good marinate going on meat in 30 minutes.  The product claims that by pumping the air out it causes the pores of the meat to open and all the juices get pulled in.  It marinates and tenderizes the meat. Bada-bing.  It works. If you are a vegan you can throw your veggies or tofu in there too.  Whatever floats your boat.  I think it’s a must have item for your house.

If I had to pick my last meal, it would be grilled steak, loaded baked potato, and chocolate cake.  Note no veggies on that wish list.
