Consumer Cafe: Walk Away Baked Spaghetti

November 1st, 2013

I know we are all getting so busy this time of year, so before I start with all my usual holiday recipes, I thought i would share this delicious, easy recipe from Paula Deen.

Walk Away Baked Spaghetti

Servings: 4-6
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 20 min
Difficulty: Easy

  • 1 lb browned and seasoned ground Beef (Italian sausage can be substituted)
  • 3/4 lb.spaghetti, cooked
  • 1 jar (approx 15 oz) of your favorite pasta sauce
  • 2 cups Mozzarella Cheese, grated

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large sauce pan, simmer meat and tomato sauce together. Toss the cooked noodles in the sauce.

To Assemble: Spray a casserole dish with non stick cooking spray. Spoon half of the noodle mixture into the dish. Pack it down lightly and sprinkle on half of the cheese. Add the other half of the spaghetti, pack down lightly and top with the rest of the cheese. Bake for approximately 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly. Serve with a green salad and crusty garlic bread.

Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Double, double, toil and trouble
Something wicked this way comes.

Eye of newt and toe of frog,
Wool of bat and tongue of dog,
Adder’s fork and blind-worm’s sting,
Lizard’s leg and howlet’s wing.

Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Double, double, toil and trouble
Something wicked this way comes.

In the cauldron boil and bake,
Fillet of a fenny snake,
Scale of dragon, tooth of wolf,
Witches’ mummy, maw and gulf.

Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble

Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble
Double, double, toil and trouble
Fire burn and cauldron bubble

Something wicked this way comes.

Website of the Week: personalcreations.com

October 30th, 2013

As we gear up for the holiday season, I will be sharing a lot of gift websites. I adore a personalized gift, and you need to allow a little extra time if you are ordering something personalized. I love all the unique items at personalcreations.com, and hope you do too!

Here are just a few.

How cute are these LED lighted stockings?

I’m sure I’ve shared before that my tree is a collection of ornaments that have accumulated throughout the years. I love the ones that are dated, or personalized, so if you have a new baby, or a first Christmas, or new home, or just want to celebrate your family, I would suggest a personalized ornament. You could make it a new tradition!

You could not go wrong with this kitchen glass cutting board as a couple gift, mother gift, neighbor gift, etc.

Or this darling doormat.

Lots of stuff for men, women, children, couples, grandparents, parents, toddlers, and babies. You need a personalized gift, you are sure to find one here. AND they are on Ebates. AND you can find coupon codes, so you will love the bottom line price!

Expand-A-Shelf

October 29th, 2013

I am lucky enough to have a large walk in pantry in my kitchen. When we first moved into this house I thought there was no way I could ever fill it up. But low and behold, I did. In no time at all!

Lucky for me, I am also a little OCD about organization. I had a lot of lazy susans in the pantry for storage of canned goods, spices, etc., and they work great.

On a recent trip to the Container Store, I discovered Neat Things Expand-A-Shelf, and bought two in the 14″-27″ x 8″ x 4-1/4″ h size. In addition to the appealing idea of stacking the canned goods, so it is easier to find, was the fact that the shelf expand to double length! So you can use it in a small area, or really stretch it to the size you need.

As you can see, they work great, but not quite wide enough for normal size cans.

In a genius moment, I decided to use one in my bathroom, where all my lotions and potions just sat out, they are now stacked, and so much neater, and easier to locate what I want.

I went back and got the Mega Expand-A-Shelf, which is 13″-25″ x 11-5/8″ x 6-1/8″ h, and as you can see, I can still stock up on more canned goods and it makes much better use of my space than a lazy susan.

I am happy, happy, happy. Just in time for all those extra canned goods I will be buying for the holiday cooking/baking that’s about to commence.

So, if you are looking for a great storage idea, check out the expand-a shelves at the Container Store, or amazon.com, if you don’t have a Container Store in your area.

Don’t you be judging my pantry!
