Consumer Cafe: Candy Corn Cordials

October 25th, 2013

And finally, to round out our series of Candy Corn recipes, what is better than something for us adults? Here is a yummy recipe from Food Network.

Candy Corn Cordials

For the infused vodka:

  • 1/2 cup candy corn
  • 1 1/2 cups vodka

For the cordials:

  • 2 ounces orange liqueur
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 large egg white
  • Candy corn, for garnish

Infuse the vodka: Combine the candy corn and vodka in an airtight container; set aside for at least 3 hours, then strain.

Make the cordials: Add 4 ounces of the candy corn vodka, the orange liqueur, lemon juice and egg white to a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. Strain into 2 chilled martini glasses and garnish with candy corn.

Glam Alert: Legacy Legwear Ankle Length Skirted Leggings

October 24th, 2013

Usually my glam alerts are about all things related to skin care or makeup, but today we are going to go a little off topic – still glam related though.

I quadruple love these skirted leggings I got from QVC so I just had to share! These leggings with the skirt attached are perfect for those tops you want to wear with leggings, but may look just a smidge obscene, or gross, if they don’t cover the butt!

They come in black, brown, gray, and a few prints too.  I have them in black and brown and love them. They are so adorable and fit great. I actually think I could have sized down but I’m okay with my regular size. They aren’t overly big and with the skirt covering the area you don’t want anyone to see, it really doesn’t matter if they are a little loose! Or maybe you do want people to see that area. If you got it, flaunt it. I, however, don’t got it so I don’t flaunt it.

It opened up a whole new set of wardrobe combos that I can now wear with leggings though, which I am thrilled about. If you wear a top without tucking it in, the skirt just looks like a longer layered top and not really a skirt.

Do you wear leggings? Let me know what your favorite brand is in the comment section!

Website of the Week: amazon.com for toys

October 23rd, 2013

One of my favorite things on amazon.com is their holiday toy list. Every year, they post the hottest toys for children. You can narrow your search by age, gender, and price, to get just the gift you want, and at the price you want to spend. You can also narrow the choices by the child’s interests. I no longer have any small children running around, so I never know what the hot things are to get, and with the help of the Holiday Toy List, some people call me the “gift whisperer”.

Shhhh, don’t tell anyone, they think I have a real gift for knowing what their kids like!

Amazon.com publishes this list every year, so all you need to remember is to search for “toy list” and it will take you right to it.
