Glam Alert: Kirkland Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes

February 2nd, 2012

My favorite pre-moistened facial towelettes.  Kirkland is the Costco generic brand. I buy this huge box of 150 wipes for $12. It contains four 30-packs with a plastic snap lid, and two 15-packs with a resealable lid. They are a good size (6×8) and has a quilted side and a smooth side.  Made with Chamomile, Triple Tea Complex, and Vitamin E. I use these to clean my face before using my Clarisonic for the deep cleaning. And if they get off my war paint, they will get off yours!

If you aren’t a member of Costco, I found them for $12.99 plus shipping at Amazon. I think even with the shipping it is a bargain because most of the pre-moistened wipes come 25 to a pack with the cheapest being about $5 a pack. So, six 25-packs at $5 each would run you about $36. (Now we all know I am not known for math skills, but that’s the figure I got.)

Travel? Wouldn’t be without them. So convenient to take travel packs with you anywhere you go. They don’t burn your eyes or cause any irritation. They are alcohol free and oil free. I don’t use my Clarisonic every single night, but I always use these to take my makeup off. Plus, if you are lazy, which I am, I can easily grab one of these and use while sitting in my recliner watching television.

Website of the Week: uncommongoods.com

February 1st, 2012

I think I have ordered from uncommongoods.com since its inception in 1999. It is my go-to site when I am at a loss for what to buy someone. Believe it or not, it happens. I am never at a loss for stuff to buy myself, but always struggle with gift ideas.

Love this corkcicle for $22.95. You just freeze it, and then you can keep it in your wine bottle during a get-together, or as long as the bottle lasts. Depending on my company, sometimes this would not be necessary.

This unzipped glass zipper bag is great for jellybeans, or lifesavers, or anything you would use a candy dish for. Cute on an office desk. Such a conversation piece, at $20.

Years ago, I had a friend who was going through some issues, and sort of at a crossroad. I purchased this necklace for her to remind her that her future was in her hands.

So much more fascinating to watch than an hourglass, this deep-sea sand art would make a great gift for anyone.

I hope this gives you some ideas of what uncommongoods.com has to offer.

QVC Flameless Wall Sconces

January 31st, 2012

I purchased this set of two Candle Impressions Melted Wax Flameless Wall Sconces with Timer (Item #H07026) from QVC a few years ago. I love them because they run on a batteries, require no wiring, and give light to my hallway at night. I also love them because they have a 5 hour timer, so I set them to come on every evening at 6 pm, and they automatically go off at 11 pm. Very handy when I come home after dark and the hallway is already lit for me.  These sconces give the effect of a flickering candle. QVC has several others models to choose from.

The above sconces were not available when I ordered mine. If mine ever break, I think I would order these. They look like they give off more light, and are about $10 cheaper than the ones I purchased. (QVC Item #H191211).

I like ordering from QVC because they always have a 30-day money back guarantee on everything, and they have customer reviews, which I always read before ordering anything. Most sites have customer reviews and there have been several times that I have ordered, and not ordered, based on reviews.
