A few weeks ago I told you about the Keek app. My son informs me that he likes the Vine app much better because you can edit your creations, thus making you feel like a big time cinematographer, or director, or film editor, or just get those creative juices flowing. Or make a video just like Keek and don’t edit. I’m just giving you the options here people!
You can subscribe and watch videos of your friends and family, or you can search topics that are trending, much like twitter. I spent a few minutes Saturday morning watching videos on “pancakes” since it was trending. I was on the treadmill (yay me!) and couldn’t find anything on television, even though I probably have over 500 channels. So I decided to use that time to check out the Vine app. I must say I was amused at the creativity.
You also can see really creative Editor Picks at the end of your stream. Those are REALLY creative and fun to watch.
My son has already filmed several short films of my precious granddog. Wonder if he will be up for some sort of Oscar?
From the developer:
Vine is the best way to see and share life in motion. Create short, beautiful, looping videos in a simple and fun way for your friends and family to see.
• Unlimited uploads and free
• Instantly post videos on Vine, then share to Twitter and Facebook (more coming soon!)
• Find, follow, and interact with people close to you
• Explore trending posts, featured hashtags and editor’s picks
So even if you don’t have any friends and/or family on Vine yet, you can entertain yourself for a few minutes while waiting at the doctor’s office or somewhere else where someone is making you wait. Enjoy! Oh, and if you are already on Vine, please let me know so I can follow you!

I love having company because it gives me a chance to make sinfully delicious recipes like this one from Paula Deen, that I would never make just for my husband and me. You know, because we are always on a diet! This is also great because you make it the night before, so you don’t have to do all that cooking first thing in the morning before you get coffee in your system.
Baked French Toast Casserole
- dash salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cup half-and-half
- Butter, for pan
- 1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
Praline Topping, recipe follows
Raspberry Syrup, recipe follows
Praline Topping:
- 1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2-teaspoon ground nutmeg
Raspberry Syrup:
- 1 cup raspberry preserves
- 3 tablespoons water
- 2 tablespoons raspberry liqueur (recommended: Framboise)
Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch thick each. (Use any extra bread for garlic toast or bread crumbs). Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9X13 casserole dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices.
In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread and bake for 45 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with Raspberry Syrup.

I purchased the Japonesque Heated Eyelash Curler from amazon.com about two months ago. I usually forgot to use it when I was applying my makeup in the morning. Then it dawned on me to put it in my desk drawer to use in the afternoon. I notice that in the afternoons my eyelashes start to droop. Probably because I want to go to sleep. But if I use my heated eyelash curler it seems to perk up the lashes, not to mention me in general.
Mine came in black for $13 at amazon.com. Last week I was in Ulta and saw this cute pink color for $18. I would still pay $5 less and skip the pink.
I don’t think this heated eyelash curler would ever replace the regular eyelash curler I use every morning. My current favorite is the Kevyn Aucoin. However, I do think it is a great pick me up for refreshing the eyelashes AFTER mascara is applied, and I am happy to add it to my arsenal of eyelash enhancements.
