Glam Alert: Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner

November 8th, 2012

If you haven’t heard, Argan Oil is all the rage right now. I have two friends who swear by it for their skin. I have tried the oil and it just sat on my face. It did not absorb. But that’s just me, with my perfect skin. Others may find it absorbs and makes their skin feel great, like my two friends. That’s the beauty of this world, everyone is different. Some people may love a product that others may not.

In my quest to love the Argan Oil, I purchased the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner from my local mega-store. I loved it so much I went back and purchased the Shampoo. I will tell you that I do not like the end result of using both the Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner together. So I use one or the other, and another product for the shampoo or conditioner. That’s just me. And as we all know, I have about five shampoos and conditioners in the shower to choose from. There are three shelves in my shower. My husband has one thing, his shampoo, and the rest are filled with my stuff. Lucky me!

Anyway, back to the subject. The Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner are both very inexpensive, like under $5 each. So not a big risk to try it out to see if you like it.

The Organix brand also carries a variety of shampoos and conditioners; such as Brazilian Keratin Therapy, Coconut Milk, Cherry Blossom Ginseng, and Cucumber Yogurt, just to name a few.  As soon as space opens up in my shower, I will try another selection from Organix.

Have you tried any of the Organix hair products? Have you tried Argan oil? Leave me a comment with your thoughts.

Website of the Week: beautybar.com

November 7th, 2012

One of my readers and now friend recently told me about beautybar.com. It is similar to drugstore.com and beauty.com, which is set up for the customer to have the ability to order from both sites, and it all goes into the same shopping cart.  I think one of my first posts was about drugstore.com. It will always be one of my all time favorite online stores. I love how you can order from both drugstore.com and beauty.com on the same order. Beauty Bar has partnered with several other sites, so you can place one order for multiple things.  Long ago I posted about diapers.com. At that time it was partnered with soap.com. As you can see if you go to any of these sites now, they have partnered up with several more stores, one of which is Beauty Bar. I think I am going to spend the month of November reviewing these partnered online stores.

First up, beautybar.com. As I mentioned above, I love drugstore.com/beauty.com, but they don’t always carry the brands I am looking for. It looks like beautybar.com carries a lot of brands I shop, including the Butter London nail polish. I also love the fact that you can save items to your list, so that your favorites are always saved to your account, just like drugstore.com.  AND, I love that, just like drugstore.com, beautybar.com is one of Ebates many stores. Win/Win.

Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard Protein

November 6th, 2012

Last year, when complaining to my sister about my struggle to lose weight, she wisely told me that if I wanted the furnace to burn, I was going to have to put fuel in the furnace in the morning. From that moment on, I start my day with the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard. I buy the 5 lb. container, in Double Rich Chocolate Flavor. The 1 lb. is $21. For four more pounds it sells for $53, with free shipping. Even though it sounds like a lot of money, I just started on my second container, so the first one lasted me almost a year. I store a small amount in one of my OXO Good Grips Storage Containers, and keep the rest in the pantry. It mixes well with water. I use really cold water, and a little crushed ice, because I have found the colder the better the taste. Not that it taste bad, but with tap water it just tastes a little like drinking chocolate milk with no cold milk.

Shortly after my talk with my sister, who ps, is a Yoga Instructor, Marathon Runner, basic good health, great body, show-off, I also heard on Dr. Oz that you should have at least 30 grams of protein in the first thirty minutes after you wake up each morning.

As you can see from the nutritional information above, this will give you 24 grams of protein. I include a container of greek yogurt each morning, which is another 10-13 grams added to the protein shake.

I will say that I have noticed a big difference. I have lost weight, and eating/drinking this much protein first thing in the morning really keeps me full.

I actually started with this particular brand because my son, who is also a fitness guru, drinks it after he works out. He said that almost all his workout peeps drink this particular brand because of the low sugar and carbs.

It comes in 19 different flavors; including cake batter, rocky road, or just plain vanilla.

So, whether you are a work out fiend, or trying to lose weight, or just want to add some protein to your diet, I would strongly recommend the Optimum Nutrition brand.

App of the Week: Thanksgiving Wallpaper

November 5th, 2012

Well, now that Halloween is behind us, my mind starts getting in the mood for Thanksgiving. I downloaded two really cute free apps this week that have tons of Thanksgiving themed wallpaper for your smartphone. I’m into all that cutesy wallpaper. If you aren’t, this post will bore you.

You can search your app store for free wallpapers, there are a lot of free apps to choose from.  I’m only listing the titles of the two I downloaded.

You are sure to find a background picture you like between these two apps. And, if you have a hard time deciding, just pick several and switch out your background daily or weekly until Thanksgiving. It will get you in the mood for all that turkey and pie, which is just a few weeks away.  Gooble, Gooble!

1,000 + Thanksgiving Wallpapers.
