Website of the Week: Shopkitson.com

February 8th, 2012

Kitson is one of those shi-shi stores you always see in pictures taken by paparazzi of celebrities. Way too shi-shi for me. Turns out not so much. They have some really cute items, and are very reasonably priced. If you look on their brand listing, you will see they carry a lot of high-end brands. You can shop by brand, by category, or even by celebrities captured in pictures wearing their merchandise. Feel fancy yet?

First, let me tell you my favorite thing about this site. As a web connoisseur, I hate looking at items that are separated by page.  Some offer the option of seeing all pages, but only after you scroll to the bottom of the first page. Once you hit “all”, it pops you back to the top of the page again. Kitson is the only site I have seen where once you hit “all” it keeps your place on the page and you can continue to scroll. Nice job Kitson! It’s the little things with me.

I’ll start with the gifts and novelties category.

The Moshi-Moshi Pop Phone that attaches to your iPhone. My husband got me this for Christmas and I love it. And look, I’m just the same as Eva Longoria. Except mine is pink

Funny candles for the birthday cake for $7

They also have lots of funny stuff with the F word, and weed, but I won’t post those because I’m not into those things. You believe me, right?

They have jewelry, like these initial necklaces for $68

They have a large selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories for men, women, and children.

There is a clearance section with all of the above categories.  I found this cute cosmetic bag for $7. They have totally “bitchy”, “available”, “neurotic”, “sarcastic”, “trashed”, “available”, and “lovable”, all on clearance. All of these categories apply to me.

They also have perfumes.  A large selection of Bond No. 9 perfumes. I have always heard these perfumes are fabulous; they are just a smidge too pricey for me. I love the bottles though.

They are works of art.

Let me know in the comments section what you think of this week’s website!

Sophia 4 Pack Mini Blanc de Blancs

February 7th, 2012

Aren’t these adorable? Sophia Mini Blanc de Blancs from Francis Coppola Winery. A four pack of wine in a can plus your own bendy straw for $20. I think these are cute to give out to your friends as a little sussie (they also sell individual if you can’t think of three friends and you, or four for you) for Valentine’s? If you are a wine snob this canned wine probably offends you like a box of wine does, and I apologize for my uncouthness. But if you are into cute, like me, this is a cute gift. How about a girl’s night? I’m getting a couple sets of these. I can give out to my nail tech, hairdresser, or any of my other maintenance people I will see this month. It takes a village you know. I can give to my girlfriends, and put in my guest room basket. I may even sneak these in my purse when I go see a movie with my sister. Don’t tell anyone.

App of the Week: Appzilla 2

February 6th, 2012

If you get only one app – this is the one to get. Appzilla 2 has 120 apps in one for a cost of .99 cents. It is also available on Android.

I will admit, it has a lot of apps you probably will never use.  But for the price, there is enough apps you will use to satisfy you. I’m not going to list all the apps, but I will list a few that I like.

Crystal Ball – for those moments in life when you just need the answer.

Night Vision Camera – seriously – you open it and can see in the dark. Great for keeping away the boogieman.

Loan Calculator – you can always use this when buying a car because you never want to tell them what YOU want your monthly payment to be, but you can figure it out right in the dealership.

Hearing – I love this one. It really works. I have found that although my right ear is that of a 30 year old, my left ear is that of a 50 year old.  Nice at least to know I am normal in hearing because my husband always tells me that he tells me stuff and I don’t hear it. Now I have a test to prove him wrong!

Sound Box – ever just want your own rim shot? You can find it under this app.

Sleep Aid – sounder with nine different sounds for help in your zzzzzzzz.

There are a few apps for the spy in you – like a secret microphone and secret camera. It also has a motion alert you can set and leave the room. If someone tries to pick up your camera an alarm goes off. I’m quite certain my son has this installed so I never touch his iPhone, although I’m sure it has 15 levels of security passwords too. What is he hiding?

There are different photo editing apps included. Multiple games for both children and adults, and of course a lot of others that total 120 apps for only .99.

If you already have Appzilla on your smart phone what apps are included that you use? Let me know in the comments section.

Consumer Cafe: Meat Loaf Cups

February 3rd, 2012

Here’s an easy recipe for your super bowl party, or to make in general. My husband loves these and the convenience of the cupcake wrapper is a bonus. You can add mashed potatoes on top to make them look more like a cupcake.

Meat Loaf Cups
2 eggs beaten
¼ cup skim milk
¼ cup ketchup
½ cup crushed cornflakes
4 Tbsp dried minced onions
1 tsp prepared mustard
1 tsp salt
¼ tsp pepper
2 lbs 93% lean ground beef

In a large bowl, combine the first eight ingredients Add beef; mix well. Press into 12 foil-lined muffin cups. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes or until done.
