drugstore.com

February 16th, 2011

If you don’t like stores, or stores that run out of your favorite products, or having to go to several stores for products, drugstore.com is one stop shopping for health and beauty. One of the best things is that drugstore.com is partnered with beauty.com, so when you search for a product it is searching both websites. You just add what you want to your cart and it all rings up together.Or you can go to www.beauty.com and do the same thing. drugstore.com always has free shipping for purchases over $49 and you earn 5% cash back on every purchase. A few weeks ago I had accumulated $14 in my account. So when you start off at ebates, and then add those savings, and the free shipping, oh and did i mention no sales tax (in Texas), well its practically free. Another great thing about drugstore is “your list”. Every time you purchase something on the site it saves it to your list. Also, if you hear or read of a product you want to try later (but don’t have enough items to purchase to get the free shipping) you can locate it and save to your list. Then when you are ready to purchase you just click off the items that are saved to your list – add anything else you need, and badda bing you are done. For me it is a real time saver and their prices are very competitive. So much better than going to the store only to find out they are out of your favorite product.

My latest find is It Cosmetics Nail Love. I have used this product on my cuticles for three days and can already tell a huge difference. After Christmas and all the wrapping and cooking and dried out hands my cuticles are usually in horrible shape. Just a few days after using this stuff and I almost look normal again! Its $12 so go save to your list!

Mosaic Photo From designamosaic.com

I have had several friends order large prints from this website.  You upload as little as 20 up to hundreds of your digital photos and they make a mosaic photo for you with your choice of the one picture you want all the mosaic photos to form.  I have seen these and they are fabulous.  A great mother’s day gift, christmas gift, gift for a grandparent too.  Their prices range from $25 for an 8×10 print to $169 for a 30×45 canvas! I think that is a great price.  You will have to frame on your own but in my area lots of framing places often have a 50-60% off coupons for that so if you think ahead you can get a great lifetime memory for a loved one.  Hopefully you can see the general effect of the print above but they have many samples on their website.  I hope you check it out!  According to their website:

A photo mosaic is a picture produced by arranging many smaller tile photos to form a vibrant larger picture. At Design A Mosaic, we use your digital images for the tile photos to re-create another one of your photos. In essence, your smaller photos will make up your larger photo.

Diminished Value

February 14th, 2011

I’m going to go a little out of the normal topic range today just to share a little known fact with you. I am first and foremost not a lawyer, so no part of this blog is giving legal advice. Further, I live in the State of Texas so I can only speak to what my understanding is of the law in Texas regarding diminished value.

If you are the person seeking to get repairs to your vehicle from the other driver’s insurance, you are also entitled to the diminished value of your vehicle.  That is the value of your car being sold in the condition it was prior to the wreck, and what the value is now that it has been wrecked.  My car is currently being repaired for a wreck and I have requested diminished value. A good reference for setting that value is Kelly Blue Book (www.kbb.com) and it can be several thousand dollars. I believe this coverage only applies if the vehicle is just a few years old at the time of the collision.

When I first heard of diminished value it made perfect sense, I mean you DO lose money on a trade-in or private sale of your vehicle because it has been involved in a wreck. But I never knew the other driver had to pay for that.  Well folks, they do. And the funny thing is – THE INSURANCE COMPANY NEVER TELLS YOU THIS. So, as I said before I am no lawyer, but you can check with your own insurance agent for clarification regarding this issue. You should also check to see if you have this coverage in a scenario where you were hit by another driver who did not have insurance or was underinsured, and you have UIM (uninsured/underinsured motorist) on your policy, because your insurance may be liable for the diminished value.

I hope this helps someone because once you sign that release there’s no going back and trying to claim it later.

QVC

I think I have shopped on QVC almost 20 years.  Long before the internet there was shopping on tv.  Now I do more online shopping with QVC than watching the QVC channel.  They have millions and millions of products.  I love how you can read reviews and get a better feel of whether the product is good or not.  I think QVC reviews are much more honest.  If its crap, the purchaser will tell you its crap.  My most recent purchase on QVC is a winner.  Buy one for yourself and all your friends. It is Item #V30069, Ped Pro Battery Operated Rotating Callus Remover.  It comes in pink (my personal favorite), purple, teal or white.  Even my manicurist wanted to know how the bottoms of my feet were so baby soft.  I’m not kidding!!! I only wish I had discovered it before Christmas, everyone would have gotten one.  Everyone probably will get one next year.  I know we’ve all seen that egg thing on tv – i’ve never tried it so I can’t speak to it but the Ped Pro has a disk that scrapes off all the calluses, and then a buffer to smooth the bottoms of your little feeties.  Even my bff, the biggest skeptic, fell in love with it when she got one and tried it. I must warn you though, the first time you use it you may be a little grossed out by the amount of white powder floating around that has just been scraped off your feet.
