Stim-U-Dent

June 3rd, 2014

This is probably the closest I’ll ever come to being sort of a gross post. It’s a problem I think most of us have though so bare with me.

I “suffer” from plaque build-up on my bottom middle teeth. I cannot begin to tell you how long I have used these little toothpick plaque removers, but I would venture to say over 20 years. I can remember when Johnson & Johnson produced the picks. It appears that a company called The Natural Dentist has since purchased from Johnson & Johnson, but I have never noticed a difference, so it’s the same product.

It’s not a toothpick. The pick is very soft and allows you to (here it comes – grossness) scrap the plaque from between your teeth, and behind your teeth.  You will be amazed at what comes off.

Now we all know I am a little OCD about stuff. I brush my teeth, then I use the Stim-U-Dent picks, then floss, then brush again! I know! Don’t judge me!

From The Natural Dentist:

Fights the gum disease gingivitis. ADA accepted. Stim-U-Dent Plaque Removers are accepted as an effective cleansing device which reduces gingivitis as part of a program for good oral hygiene to supplement the regular professional care required for oral health (Council on Scientific Affairs, American Dental Association). Clinically proven to fight gingivitis by removing plaque from between teeth. Soft wooden cleaners, shaped to clean between teeth and gently invigorate gums. Use after every meal. Convenient for use when away from home.

You can find Stim-U-Dent in the toothpaste aisle, usually around the same area as the floss, or at amazon.com.
