Website of the Week: bathandbodyworks.com

January 9th, 2013

One of my all time favorite stores is Bath and Body Works. I have to be honest, I have a store right around the corner from me and they never have what I want in stock. So, I wait until this sale, and I stock up. On. Everything.

Right now is Bath and Body Works Semi Annual Sale and it is not to be missed!

The body lotion is buy three get two free. Stock up. This is a great gift for girls, for your mom, for your grandmom, for your babysitter. Stock up!

All antibiotic hand soaps are $3 each. I quadruple love the Bath and Body Works foaming hand soaps and they are by every sink in my house. I would personally suggest the Kitchen Lemon, and now is the time to get some seasonal scents for the Christmas holidays. My guests love them and I always let them take the bottle home with them as a little sussie.

And the wallflowers! Those are also in every room in my house. I love wallflowers all year long. But when it gets to this time of year, I have depleted all my fall and Christmas scents and need to restock. Now is the time! It’s the semi-annual sale people! That means it happens twice a year!

I’ll tell you a funny story about Bath and Body Works wallflowers.  A few years ago we sold our house and moved into a new one. After the closing of the house, my realtor called and said that the buyer’s realtor wanted to know what I used to make the house smell so good because once they moved in it was gone! LOL. They thought the house just naturally smelled good. If you want to sell your house, get some yummy wallflowers!

I know Bath and Body is always having sales, but this is a really good one. Not to mention I love their stuff! This is the time to get birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, or just stock your linen closet. Like mine.

If you love florals, you will find a perfect scent. If you love citrus, you will find a perfect scent.  If you love clean smells, you will find a perfect scent. Do you get the picture?

Right now they have a flat rate for shipping at $5.99. Plus, because I love you, I’m going to give you a coupon code that is worth 20% off any online purchase, and can be redeemed anytime between now and March 31, 2013.  Ready? HAPPYNY.  That’s the code.  HAPPYNY.  You’re welcome.

Simply Saline

January 8th, 2013

Let me start by saying I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV. (if you are old you will get that line). Nor is my friend Patti, who highly recommends Simply Saline if you are getting a cold, or sinus or allergy issues. Patti has a friend who is a nurse who swears that if you feel a cold coming on, you spray this stuff up your nose every thirty minutes or more and you will ward off a cold. If you already have a cold, the same instructions apply. Again, I am not a doctor, nor is Patti, although she does have a friend who is a nurse who recommends this stuff. Got it?

It REALLY does work. Friday night I felt a horrible cold coming on, and Patti told me to immediately start this stuff. I did, and felt really good before I went to bed. I slept really good, but woke up feeling like I had an anvil on my chest. I immediately started using it again and truly felt better within a few hours. I continued the treatment throughout the day and the cold never came back.

So, if you are sick, send someone out to go get this stuff. If you are prone to colds, run out now and get this stuff. Unless you just want to be sick, which you could still fake, but not feel as bad.

App of the Week: 24me

January 7th, 2013

24me is a great productivity app, and right now it’s free. It’s one of those apps I think will not be free for long, so even if you don’t think you want it, I would go ahead and install it. I can’t tell you the number of apps I have originally downloaded for free that are now fee based. Live and learn.

From the developer:

APPLE’S 10 ESSENTIALS PRODUCTIVITY APP
***********************************************************
24me is the next generation personal assistant!
And yes, there’s some magic involved – a task management app that can do the work for you…
In addition to all the features that any other to do list app has, it can also automatically tell you about things you need to do. It can notify you about your financials, service providers, friends, and other errands. It can even take care of some of those responsibilities for you!

Simply link your real life into 24me – your Service Providers, friends, financials, and so on. 24me will then monitor your life, and automatically notify you when there is something important you need to know. You will get automatic alerts when you have bills to pay, friends special events and others.

This is not all…24me is going to help you automatically take care of things – pay your bills, greet your friends and even find someone to do your errands for you!

Main Features:
______________
▪ Task list with all the goodies – priorities, labels, reminders, notes and more.

▪ Automatic tasks! –
– Link your service providers, and financial institutions to get bills notifications and to pay your bills.
– Link you friends (Facebook) to get birthday notifications and to greet them: Post greeting on their walls or buy them a gift card.
– Find people to do your errands for you. Use the TaskRabbit service to suggest a price for your to-dos. Certified rabbits will get things done for you.

▪ Share your task with other people. Shared task are updated real time between participants.

▪ Speech-to-Text: add tasks using your voice. No need to type-in long texts.

▪ Add tasks from camera. Take a photo from within 24me and create a task out of it.

▪ Drag and drop tasks to sort the tasks on the screen.

24me is a great productivity app to keep track of appointments, birthdays, when bills are due, or anything else you need to keep track of.

It also contains the “task rabbit” feature that allows you to hire someone to do a task for you, if it is available in your area. Lucky for me I don’t feel the need to hire someone to do anything for me. Or is it?

Let me know what you think of this app or if you use any productivity apps. I know lots of people who could use this app who aren’t as well organized as others. . . not naming any names though!

Consumer Cafe: Lady and Sons’ Chicken in Wine Sauce

January 4th, 2013

You know I never pass up a good Paula Deen recipe. This one is yummy.  I’m into casseroles and soups this time of year. January and February are really the only two months it’s cold in Texas. It may be a little early for some of you who had dressing for Thanksgiving or Christmas to want to try this, but I didn’t have dressing either time so I’m ready.

Lady and Sons’ Chicken in Wine Sauce

  • 4 large skinless boneless chicken breasts
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted, plus more for casserole
  • Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 ounces (about 8 slices) Swiss cheese
  • 1 (10 3/4-ounce) can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1 cup herb-flavored stuffing mix, crushed

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Add the chicken to a shallow buttered casserole and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Layer the cheese slices on top.

In a medium bowl, add the soup and the wine, season with salt and pepper and pour over the cheese. Sprinkle stuffing mix on top and drizzle with melted butter.* Bake for 45 minutes. Remove from the oven and serve.

*Cook’s Note: If desired use more butter.
