Glam Alert: Revlon Colorstay Whipped Foundation

July 18th, 2013

I am in love with my new foundation. I know, I say that a lot. I am a girly-girl who loves makeup, and I love trying new stuff, sharing new stuff with you, and feelin’ purdy!

The Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup is thick, and at first you may think that means it’s going to be heavy and cakey on your face. Au contraire! I just dab a little all over my face and it blends in like magic!

From Revlon:

-Buildable to full coverage for flawless skin
-Soft, matte finish all day long
-Withstands heat and humidity – great for summer
-Comes in 16 beautiful shades

Did you read that girls? It withstands heat and humidity! I live in Dallas, and the summers here are brutally humid. This foundation looks just as good on me at 5 p.m. as it does at 8 a.m. The coverage is fantastic, and yet is still looks light and natural. It covers all my freckles. It’s about $10 for .8 ounces, but one little fingertip dip in the jar is enough to cover your entire face.

Do you have a new favorite in makeup land? Share with me in the comments section.

Website of the Week: ruffbowl.com

July 17th, 2013

Ok kids, you are going to love this. I know my little granddog does! It’s a leash WITH a water bowl from Ruffbowl.com.

So now when Ranger is staying with Grandma, I can take him for a walk and give him clean water to drink, instead of him drinking up the leftover water puddles from someone watering their yards. Ick. Doesn’t bother him I’m sure, but it bothers me. I like to pretend his not as gross as he really is.

You can purchase the leash with the bowl for $26 or just the bowl that will attach to your leash for $5. Pretty neat, huh?

Can Strainer

July 16th, 2013

Sometimes I blog about the most random stuff. Today is one of those days. I make a lot of tuna salad in the summer. My hubby loves it and it’s easy and doesn’t heat up the kitchen. Something I try to avoid in the summer is heat.

I love a good Can Strainer. For years until I realized there was such a gadget, I would always just use the lid to drain out the liquid, and a lot of times, end up cutting myself. The stainless steel one above is my favorite, although I cannot for the life of me remember where I found it. I like it because it has different lips so you can size it to the can you are trying to strain. Or straining to drain. Plus it is stainless steel, so that makes me think it’s more sanitary.

More often than not, I see these types of strainers hanging from those little promo things at the supermarket. I’ve had this one too, and somehow I lost it. But it really did work well. That’s how I ended up with the stainless steel one. I prefer the flat top strainers.

I’ve also had this type of strainer. I actually think this was my first one. This is my least favorite, because it’s more of a press down into the juice to strain, and it ends up with more of the product in two places, the can and the strainer, than just one, which is how the first two pictured above work.

Regardless though, if you haven’t tried a can strainer you are in for a treat. It will be one of those “why didn’t I think of that” moments. Enjoy!

App of the Week: Starbucks

July 15th, 2013

I’ve had the Starbucks app on my iPhone for years. I love it for many reasons, and I was surprised I hadn’t told you about it before. Recently though, Starbucks got pretty dang smart and in addition to offering a free song of the week to download, they have started offering free apps to download! So this week’s app of the week is an app that has apps of the week! Fun!

Not only can you keep up with your balance on your Starbucks card, from the app you can reload your balance, and another favorite of mine is to send egifts! Gift cards to all your friends whether they are sick, or having a birthday, or having a bad day, immediately they get an egift card from you to them – and, Starbucks has several designs of ecards to choose from.

If you are in a new area, the Starbucks app will help you quickly locate the nearest Starbucks so you can get your fix. You can also pay for your purchase at Starbucks directly from the app. What will they think of next?

Another great feature is you can look through the Starbucks menu for food and assorted coffee concoctions, and save your favorites. It will also give you all the nutritional information so if you are counting calories it’s easy to decide to skip the bakery but a skinny frap is okay!

From Starbucks:
